Stay & Dine
Thurnwood is a substantial country house between Sherborne and Dorchester, far from the madding crowd in Hardy country, reached down a three-quarter-mile private drive. Guests stay in the house or in one of two adjoining cottages.
Rooms in the House
There are four bedrooms available in the main house:
Chinese Room — Double bedroom with en suite shower room.
Tapestry Room — Double bedroom with private adjoining bathroom.
Green Room — Double bedroom with en suite bathroom.
Second Floor Suite — Available as a double or twin, with its own sitting room and bathroom.
The Cottages
Immediately adjoining the house are two cottages — Mappowder Cottage and Maple Cottage. Each has two bedrooms (one double, one single), a shared bathroom, sitting room, kitchen, and its own private garden.
The cottages are comfortable and self-contained, while being just steps from the studio and dining room.
Dining
Meals are taken together in the dining room — part of the pleasure of the week, and an opportunity for conversation about the day's work.
Breakfast
Croissants, toast, marmalades, cereals, honey, yogurt, fruit, juice, tea and coffee.
Lunch
A generous buffet: hot soups, quiches, salads, cold meats or salmon, egg mayonnaise, jersey potatoes — varying with what is available.
Dinner
Three courses with wine.
Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. All produce is sourced locally.
